Welcome! I’m a psychologist based in Louisville, KY, with over ten years of clinical experience. While I’ve worked with folx across the lifespan, my practice currently focuses exclusively on adults (18+).

Before moving into full-time private practice, I worked in university counseling centers providing direct care and supervising doctoral students—a role that solidified my deep love for training the next generation of therapists.

My work is heavily informed by research on the “living legacy” of trauma—specifically how past experiences can stay trapped in the mind and body long after the event is over. Beyond focusing on the narrative of a traumatic event, which when poorly timed can worsen symptoms, I work to help you regulate your nervous system and feel more present, connected, compassionate and in a mindset where you can start to live the life you want.

On a personal note, I’m a West Virginia native (go Mountaineers!), a mom, and a wife. When I’m not in the office, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, cheering a bit too loudly at sports games, or hanging out in the garden—though I owe full credit to my spouse for doing all the watering!

I know that a strong, genuine connection is at the heart of good therapy. Feel free to reach out and schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’d be a good fit to work together.
Hi, I’m Shamara. I aim to create a warm, comfortable space where you can drop your guard and just be yourself. You know your life better than anyone else ever could. My job isn't to fix you or tell you what to do—it's to help you make sense of what you're going through, recognize what you're already good at, and build practical strategies for real life.

Together, we’ll look at the patterns that leave you feeling stuck. Whether you're dealing with stress, working through relationship dynamics, or wondering why the same frustration keeps popping up, we won't focus on what's "wrong" with you. Instead, we'll focus on what your experiences are trying to tell you and use that to help you move forward with more clarity and confidence.

When it’s helpful, I also use personality and cognitive tools/testing to get a clearer picture of how you process information, learn, and handle everyday challenges. These aren't meant to label you or put you in a box—they're just a practical way to help us build a plan that fits who you actually are.
